Description

The word ‘Triquetra’ also known as Trinity, comes from the Latin word for ‘Three-Cornered’ and although it’s exact origins are unknown, it has been found on carved stones throughout Northern Europe dating back as far as the 8th Century AD.
Throughout history the ‘Triquetra has been found heavily within Myth, Magic & Religion.
The word ‘Triquetra’, has been chosen to be used here as a title as this routine utilises a triple sure fire prediction.

EFFECT:
The performer begins by asking for two spectators to assist them onstage. The spectators stand either side of the performer one to the left and one to the right. Next the performer displays a pack of playing cards, these cards are freely shown and displayed front and back as they are spread from the fingers (or ribbon spread across a table). The cards are mixed face down, and squared.

The performer turns to the spectator to the right and states for them to call stop as he riffles through the deck in order for them to make a selection. The position as to where they stop at is exactly where the cards are split and the card is shown to the spectator and also the audience.

The performer squares the pack and turns to the second spectator on the left and the process repeated, whereby the spectator calls stop and the cards are cut to another selection which is also displayed to the spectator and audience.

The performer now squares the deck and encases the deck with rubber-bands, before tossing the deck into the audience. A third spectator is now asked to simply cut the deck and remember the card they have cut to. Once they have done this the deck is thrown back onto the stage area where it lays on the ground untouched by the performer.

The performer now states that earlier that day they had a premonition so strong that they chose to place that premonition into their pocket. As this is stated the performer turns to the spectator on their right as the performer opens the right hand side or their coat. In doing so it is seen that there is a Jumbo over sized playing card within the right hand pocket that is an exact match to that of the spectator’s card also standing on the performer’s right. This card is removed and held in the performer’s right hand.

Next the performer turns slightly to face the spectator on the left and opens the left side of the coat revealing a second Jumbo oversized card within the left hand pocket, which also matches the second spectator’s card stood on the performers left, which is also removed and held in the left hand. Finally focus is then shifted to the spectator in the audience who is only thinking of a card of which they selected for themselves. The performer only has the two Jumbo over sized playing cards one in each hand.
The third spectator is asked to name out loud their thought of selection.
On doing so the two Jumbo oversized playing cards are turned over revealing printed on the reverse side on one Jumbo card the indices and on the other the suit matching that of third selection…
