Description

Effect:
A spectator is asked to take a pen and paper, and to write or draw anything they like (totally free choice).

Once the spectator has finished writing, the performer states that he is going to close his eyes and will also cover them, and then he will turn his back.

While now blindfolded and his back turned the spectator is instructed to show the writing to all other spectators ensuring that nothing is said out loud.

Once they have finished, and while the performers eyes are blindfolded and his back turned. The spectator is instructed to fold the paper into quarters.

Once the spectator has finished, they are then instructed to destroy the writing by tearing the paper to pieces.

This ensures that everyone watching will all be able to know the totally random thought without anything being conveyed to the performer.

Yet even with these impossible test conditions, whereby the spectator not only has a totally free choice, but also is the only person to handle the paper including the destruction of the paper. The performer is still able to duplicate the thought written.

For centuries the traditional Centre Tear method has been the staple backbone to countless millions of performers and effects released and published. Many of you reading will be more than familiar with this principle and will also know that the main key to the traditional method is that the performer must handle the paper in order to peek the writing.

The method I have devised here is a technique that allows for the spectator to be the only person who handles the paper, and also with justification as to why they are required to write a thought then destroy what was written.

• Suitable for Close-up, Stage & Live Stream performances
