The Chair Test Without Chairs
By Kevin Cunliffe

Effect:
A spectator is freely chosen from an audience by tossing a small ball of paper over your shoulder. This spectator is going to act as the eyes of the audience and as a guard. As this is explained to the audience, you write this person’s name on a name badge and have him affix it into place on his/her shirt. You also hand them a sealed envelope containing your prediction before asking them to select three other spectators. You then direct this same spectator to stand off to one side of the stage.

The three freely selected spectators are each asked to choose a number one through four; the three spectators are then invited up onto stage and are also given a name tag as they are asked to stand by a position that refers to their freely chosen number. This will leave one position free. You now ask for your prediction to be opened and read aloud which reads -“The committee has left for you, THE GUARD, by elimination, the RED DISK. Signed: (Performer's name).” Sure enough, the lone position left vacant by the three spectators is the one bearing a bright red disk. This is then taken further by showing that the paper ball used to randomly select ‘The Guard’ has also a number drawn on it - the number is 4213. Have ‘The Guard’ stand in position by the freely selected empty space, and then ask each spectator remove the sticker from their name badges: each bares a number and when read in order from left to right they show the number 4,2,1,3.

A 100% perfect multiple prediction of multiple positions, colours and a freely generated number, by four different spectators.
